DC Craft Bartenders Guild and Mixologists Celebrate
The 4th Annual Repeal Day Ball
December 3, 2011
The DC Craft Bartenders Guild and founding members Gina Cherservani, of PS 7 Restaurant, Chantal Tseng, of the Tabard Inn, and Owen Thomson, of Think Food Group, amongst others, are holding their 4th annual Repeal Day Ball on December 3, 2011 celebrating the 78th anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition. The over 300 expected attendees will enjoy cocktails crafted by Washington DC’s and the nation’s best mixologists while dancing along to the Prohibition-era sounds of the Red Hot Rhythm Chiefs. Food will be provided by Washington, DC’s premier catering service, Occasions Caterers. This Black Tie affair will be held at the Halcyon House in Georgetown, the historic federal house that has been the center of much of Washington’s social life since 1787.
Libations and creations will be offered by local favorites Todd Thrasher, Clinton Terry, Elli Benchimol, Owen Thomson, Chantal Tseng, Duane Sylvestre, Jason Strich, Dan Searing, Gina Chersevani to mention a few, along with special guests-bartender legends - Tony Abou-Ganim from Las Vegas, Phil Greene from the Museum of the American Cocktail, as well as visiting mixologist Adam Seger and Charles Joly [Chicago,] Brad Hensarling [Fort Worth,] Tad Carducci [New York City,] and Danny Ronan [San Francisco].
Halcyon House will come alive on December 3, 2011 as the rooms fill with guys and gals dressed in their most dapper duds to toast, drink, cheer and honor the end of Prohibition. So join us as we Boardwalk Empire our elaborate desires and embrace the Ken Burns’ Prohibition passions of the era of speakeasies and find out what “Keeping a Secret” really meant.
The secret is out as tickets for this year’s soirée begin at $100. VIP tickets will be available for $150 and will allow guests to kick the party off an hour early and receive a copy of the Founder of The Museum of the American Cocktail
, Jill DeGroff’s, popular book, Lush Life: Portraits From the Bar
, a unique anthology that captures the heart and soul of the 21st century saloon. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to The Museum of the American Cocktail, the nonprofit organization dedicated to education in Mixology and preserving the rich history of the American Cocktail.
